Some of us have a long lasting relationship with re-enactment. For the Wermland Rifles, it all started out in 1998 when we got an invitation to commemorate the Battle of Leipzig, that originally took place in mid-October 1813. We got cracking fast and sewed the uniforms (ourselves) and headed off to German Saxony. The original rifle batallion was there in Leipzig 1813 and notably participated, and took casualties, in the storming of the Grimma gate at the eastern entry to Liepzig the 18th of October.
We have adopted alter-egos that coincide with the names used by the original riflemen, this was costumary. All this in order to get a closer tie to the men that actually fought battles in the continental Europe, aswell as the smaller ones at the border to Norway.
